Hanmer to Christchurch... another quiet drive down the stunning Kiakoura coast. This wild wild coastline was not too bad on the day we drove thru but I can imagine it would be a good place to avoid during a storm. The ragged rock formations sculptured by thousands of years of relentless pounding by waves make for an ever changing seascape... I was glad Lindz was driving so I could take it all in. You have the coast on one side and on the other snow topped mountains. As Lindz often stated "we are sooo lucky, Mate." Come on Kiwis get there and see it!!
Christchurch is another city that has me reaching for the dictionary... I loved the place, quiet busy but seemingly laid back.We checked in at the hotel then off to the local Lotus dealer to wash the cars for the big display in Cathedral Square. We shared the stage with the Silver Fern Rally cars, older rally cars brought back to life to compete once again on rally roads of old.
Thousands of people milled around admiring the cars. The "Lambo" type doors on the Opel were a huge hit especially with the Japanese tourists, I reckon that little car will feature in photo collections all around the planet.
Lindz and I drove over to Akaroa, a little bit of France in NZ. Mate, I need that dictionary again!!
